n a few short days, the residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta went from welcoming spring after a long winter, to living through the largest fire-related evacuation in the province’s history. On May 1st, the massive wildfire threatened dozens of communities, and forced all of the70,000 residents to evacuate as it destroyed everything in its path.
At RE/MAX, we understand that a home is more than just the four walls and the roof that surround you, it is a feeling comprised of moments and memories. It is the place you look forward to returning to after a long day, and the place you can count on to make you feel safe and secure despite what is happening outside your door. When that safety and security become something you can no longer count on, it is up to those around you to work together to lend a helping hand.

At RE/MAX, helping the communities we live and work in is something that is deeply engrained in the organization. Day in and day out, we watch as individuals and families fall in love with their new homes. We watch their families grow, we celebrate life’s many milestones with them, and when disaster strikes, we are there to support them.
Through the Red Cross: Alberta Fires Emergency Appeal donation program, RE/MAX has set up a donation platform that allows Agents to opt-in to give back through the sale of each home to provide some relief to those affected in the form of emergency food, clothing, shelter, personal services, and other things they will need through this difficult time. RE/MAX Canada, on behalf of every RE/MAX Agent across Canada, has also made a donation to help spearhead this effort.
